About Us

Who We Are

Sunbiz Search FL is an independent informational website about Florida business filings, owned and operated by Jax Andrews.

Jax is a Florida business compliance researcher with more than three years of experience analyzing Sunbiz.org filings. In 2021, his own Florida LLC was administratively dissolved after he missed its annual report — and he had to pay a reinstatement fee to bring it back. That expensive lesson is the reason this site exists. Since then, he has reviewed more than 1,500 Florida LLC and corporation records: formation documents, annual reports, amendments, dissolutions, and reinstatements. He studies how filings actually move through the state’s system — where people get stuck, which mistakes cost money, and what “filed on time” really requires.

Jax is not an attorney, not a CPA, and not a filing service. Nothing on this site is legal, tax, or financial advice.

Why This Website Exists

Florida’s filing system works, but it doesn’t explain itself. Fee schedules live on one page, deadlines on another, and the difference between a $138.75 on-time annual report and a $538.75 late one is a single missed date — May 1. Jax paid that kind of penalty himself before he understood the system. Sunbiz Search Florida exists so you don’t have to learn the same way: our guides explain Sunbiz filings in plain English, with the exact steps, the real fees, and the deadlines that matter.

Two guides show what we mean. Our SUNBIZ Annual Report 2026 – File & Renew Your Business guide walks through the filing Jax himself once missed, step by step. Our Florida Registered Agent: Agent LLCs & Corporations FL guide covers the registered-agent rules he has spent years studying — who qualifies, what the address requirements are, and how to change an agent without leaving your business uncovered.

Our Mission

Help Florida business owners file correctly and on time — no guesswork, no missed deadlines, no surprise fees.

How We Work

Every guide starts from primary sources: the Florida Division of Corporations website, its published fee schedules and forms, and the Florida Statutes where a rule needs the exact legal text. We don’t treat other blogs, formation-company marketing pages, or search snippets as sources. If we can’t verify a figure against an official source, we don’t publish it — we’d rather say “unverified” or leave it out than guess. Research may be assisted by tools, but a person checks every guide’s key facts against live official sources before it goes up. Our full process — sources, rechecks, corrections, and how monetization stays out of it — is laid out in our Editorial Policy.

Independent — Not the Government

Sunbiz Search Florida is privately operated. We are not the official Sunbiz website, not the Florida Division of Corporations, and not affiliated with the State of Florida in any way. We never imply otherwise. Wherever a task requires the state itself — searching official records, submitting a filing — we point you straight to the official portal and tell you it’s free to use directly.

What We Don’t Do

  • We don’t file documents for you or submit anything to the state.
  • We can’t check the status of a filing you already submitted.
  • We don’t look up private details of any business entity.
  • We don’t give legal, tax, or financial advice.

For those things, see a licensed attorney or CPA — or contact the Division of Corporations directly. The full boundaries are in our Disclaimer.

How This Site Makes Money

Sunbiz Search Florida is free to read. We earn from Google AdSense advertising and from affiliate links — currently including LegalZoom — at no extra cost to you. Filing directly with the state is always possible and always shown; it’s usually the cheapest option and we say so. Details: Affiliate Disclosure. How we collect and use data: Privacy Policy.
